Date Posted: Wednesday 14 October 2026

, Ref: 14426

Parker Smith Inclusion is recruiting Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) for a growing specialist SEND school in Witham, supporting children and young people aged 4–19 with needs including ASC, ADHD, SEMH and severe learning difficulties.

This is an opportunity to join a nurturing, structured environment where pupils receive individualised support and staff are given the training and guidance to develop their skills. Whether you already have SEND experience or are looking to start a career in specialist education, this could be a great next step.

About the Role

You’ll work alongside teachers, therapists and support staff, helping pupils access learning and develop the skills they need to become more confident and independent. Support may be delivered on a 1:1, 2:1 or small-group basis, depending on each pupil’s needs.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Building positive relationships and helping pupils feel safe, understood and supported.

  • Supporting pupils with autism, ADHD, SEMH and learning difficulties.

  • Helping pupils manage emotions, develop communication skills and build positive relationships.

  • Using consistent, positive approaches when pupils become anxious, frustrated or dysregulated.

  • Following individual education and behaviour support plans.

  • Encouraging independence, confidence and engagement in learning.

  • Working closely with teaching staff and therapeutic professionals to provide consistent support.

  • Providing personal care where required, always protecting pupils’ dignity.

  • Adapting to different classes, age groups and support needs.

Every pupil will have their own challenges and strengths. The right person will understand the importance of patience, consistency and celebrating progress, however small it may seem.

What You’ll Get

The school is keen to help its staff settle in, build confidence and develop their knowledge of specialist SEND.

You’ll benefit from:

  • A five-day induction programme.

  • Structured shadowing alongside experienced members of staff.

  • Specialist training, including behaviour support and manual handling.

  • Support from an experienced, collaborative team.

  • Opportunities to develop your skills and progress your career.

  • A temp-to-perm route for those looking for a longer-term position.

Who Would Suit This Role?

You don’t necessarily need previous experience in a specialist school. What matters is your attitude, resilience and willingness to learn.

This role could suit:

  • Graduates interested in psychology, education, social care or therapeutic work.

  • Experienced Teaching Assistants, LSAs or SEND practitioners.

  • People with backgrounds in care, residential support, youth work or mentoring.

  • Candidates who have supported children or young people with additional needs.

  • Those looking to move into education and gain specialist SEND experience.

You’ll need to stay calm when situations become challenging, communicate well with colleagues and understand that every pupil responds differently. Previous SEND experience is useful, but a patient and consistent approach is just as important.
