Some children need someone to teach them.
Others need someone who will believe in them long before they believe in themselves.
This is one of those opportunities.
Parker Smith Inclusion is proud to be working with an exceptional specialist school in Witham that is expanding due to the incredible impact it continues to have on the lives of children and young people with additional needs. The school supports pupils aged 4-19 with a range of SEND, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD).
This isn't a mainstream classroom where every day looks the same. Every pupil has their own journey, their own challenges and, most importantly, their own potential. The school has built its reputation around creating a therapeutic, nurturing environment where children feel safe, understood and able to succeed at their own pace.
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will become a consistent, trusted adult in a young person's life. You'll celebrate the small victories that others might overlook—the first time a pupil joins a lesson independently, regulates their emotions, communicates their needs or simply smiles because they feel safe.
You'll support pupils on a 1:1 or 2:1 basis, helping them access learning, develop independence and build confidence both inside and outside of the classroom. No two days will be the same, and every day will give you the opportunity to make a genuine difference.
What can you expect?
- Supporting pupils with their learning, communication and emotional regulation
- Building strong, positive relationships based on trust, patience and consistency
- Working alongside teachers, therapists and experienced SEND professionals
- Following personalised support and behaviour plans tailored to each child
- Supporting pupils throughout the school day, including community-based learning where appropriate
- Providing personal care when required with dignity and compassion
- Helping create a calm, structured and engaging learning environment
Why this school?
The school understands that exceptional support for pupils starts with exceptional support for staff.
You'll receive a comprehensive five-day induction before starting in the classroom, giving you the confidence to understand the school's routines, therapeutic approach and expectations. You'll shadow experienced colleagues, receive ongoing SEND-specific training, including manual handling, and become part of a team that genuinely looks after one another.
For those looking to build a long-term career in SEND education, there are excellent opportunities for progression as the school continues to grow.
Who are we looking for?
You may already have experience working in education or supporting children with additional needs.
Or perhaps you're a graduate considering a future in teaching, educational psychology, social care or therapy.
Most importantly, we're looking for people who are resilient, compassionate, adaptable and genuinely passionate about helping young people overcome barriers and achieve things they never thought possible.
If you're looking for a role where every day matters and where the impact you make is visible, we'd love to hear from you.
