Location: Thurrock
Hours: 8:30am–3:30pm (term time only)
Pay: £90–£100 per day
Contract: Until July 2026, with potential for temp-to-perm

We are looking for a kind, patient and compassionate 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to provide dedicated support to a Year 6 pupil with ASD and ADHD. This is a highly rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a meaningful difference to a child’s school experience and helping them feel safe, supported and confident both in and out of the classroom.

In this role, you will work closely with the pupil throughout the school day, providing consistent one-to-one support to help them access learning, understand expectations and develop important social and emotional skills. The pupil responds well to clear routines, gentle boundaries and a calm, understanding approach, and you will play a vital role in creating a positive, nurturing environment where they can thrive.

The Role

  • Provide warm, consistent 1:1 support tailored to the individual needs of a Key Stage 2 pupil with ASD and ADHD
  • Support the pupil to engage in classroom activities, follow instructions and access learning at an appropriate pace
  • Establish and maintain clear routines, structure and boundaries to support focus and emotional regulation
  • Encourage positive behaviour through reassurance, empathy and consistent expectations
  • Support the development of social skills, confidence and independence throughout the school day
  • Provide calm and reassuring support during transitions and less structured periods
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCo and wider support team to implement effective, individualised strategies

About You

  • Caring, patient and empathetic, with a genuine passion for working with children
  • Experience supporting children with additional needs, including ASD and ADHD, is desirable but not essential
  • Understand the importance of consistency, routine and clear communication
  • Flexible, resilient and able to adapt to the pupil’s changing needs
  • Works well as part of a team and communicates effectively with teaching and support staff
  • Committed to helping children feel valued, understood and capable of achieving their full potential

This role is based in Thurrock and offers a potential temp-to-perm opportunity within a welcoming and inclusive school. For the right candidate, there is the chance to secure a permanent position and make a lasting impact on a child’s educational journey.

If you are looking for a fulfilling role where your warmth, patience and dedication truly make a difference, we would love to hear from you.

Apply today and help a child grow in confidence and independence.
