The right support can change a child's whole day.
Parker Smith Inclusion is working with a welcoming primary school in Chelmsford that is looking for a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to become part of their team.
This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys working closely with children and wants to do more than simply sit alongside them in the classroom. You'll play an important role in helping pupils access their learning, overcome challenges and develop their confidence.
The school has a strong focus on creating a positive environment where children feel supported, valued and encouraged to be themselves.
What you'll be doing
Working alongside the class teacher, you'll provide practical and pastoral support throughout the school day.
You'll help pupils to:
- Access and engage with classroom learning
- Develop their confidence and independence
- Stay focused and involved in activities
- Work through challenges and overcome barriers
- Develop positive relationships with their peers
- Manage their emotions and behaviour
- Take greater ownership of their learning
You'll also have the opportunity to work with individuals and small groups, adapting activities where needed and helping pupils make progress at their own pace.
Who are we looking for?
We're looking for someone with a genuine interest in helping children succeed.
Previous school experience is beneficial, but it's not essential. We would also welcome applications from people with backgrounds in youth work, childcare, sports coaching, care or other support-based roles.
You should be:
- Patient and understanding
- Positive and encouraging
- Confident working with children
- Calm under pressure
- Reliable and consistent
- Comfortable working as part of a team
- Able to build strong relationships
- Passionate about helping children develop
- Willing to learn and take on new challenges
Above all, we're looking for someone who understands that small moments of encouragement can make a big difference.
The opportunity
You'll be joining a supportive school where you can build valuable experience within education and SEND while making a real difference to the children you work with.
Whether you're an experienced Teaching Assistant or looking to take your first steps into education, this could be an excellent opportunity to develop your skills.
What's on offer:
- £95 – £110 per day PAYE
- Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm
- Long-term position
- Temp-to-perm opportunity
- Supportive school environment
- Opportunity to gain valuable SEND experience
- The chance to make a genuine difference every day
