Learning Support Assistant – Primary School

Location: Colchester, Essex
Pay: £95–£110 per day PAYE
Hours: 8:30am–3:30pm, Monday–Friday
Contract: Long-term, with temp-to-perm potential

Some children need a little extra support to feel confident, get involved and make progress. Having the right person alongside them can make a real difference.

Parker Smith Inclusion is working with a small, welcoming rural primary school in Colchester looking for a caring and committed Learning Support Assistant to join their team.

It's a close-knit setting where relationships matter, and staff work together to help children become confident, independent learners.

About the Role

You'll work alongside the class teacher and wider school team, supporting pupils in the classroom, in small groups and on a 1:1 basis.

Your day-to-day responsibilities could include:

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support.

• Helping pupils with their learning and development.

• Keeping children focused and engaged in activities.

• Adapting support to meet individual needs.

• Supporting social, emotional and behavioural development.

• Encouraging confidence and independence.

• Building positive relationships with pupils.

• Helping create a calm, inclusive learning environment.

About You

You don't necessarily need previous school experience. What's important is your attitude, patience and ability to build positive relationships with children.

Experience as a Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant would be useful, but we'd also consider people from care, childcare, youth work, coaching, mentoring or support work.

• Confident working with children.

• A good communicator who works well in a team.

• Genuinely interested in helping children learn and develop.
