Learning Support Assistant – Basildon

Start ASAP | Secondary Setting | PAYE

Not every student finds school easy. Sometimes, having the right person beside them can make all the difference.

Parker Smith Inclusion is looking for a Learning Support Assistant to join a secondary setting in Basildon. This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young people, building trust and helping them get more out of their time in school.

You don’t necessarily need to have worked in a school before. What matters is how you approach people, how you handle a challenge and whether you’re willing to put the effort into helping a young person move forward.

What will you be doing?

No two days will look exactly the same. You’ll help students manage the school day, access lessons and build the skills they need to become more confident and independent.

That could mean working one-to-one with a student who needs extra guidance, supporting a small group, helping someone refocus during a lesson or working alongside teachers to find a better way to engage a student.

You’ll also help students navigate social and emotional challenges, encouraging positive behaviour and making sure they feel included rather than overlooked.

Who would suit this role?

You might already have experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Youth Worker, Sports Coach or Support Worker. Equally, you could be looking to get your first foot in the door in education.

We’re interested in people who are:

  • Patient, consistent and able to build rapport

  • Confident communicating with young people

  • Calm when situations become challenging

  • Proactive and comfortable using their initiative

  • Genuinely interested in helping young people develop

Previous school or SEND experience would be an advantage, but it isn’t essential.

Why work with Parker Smith Inclusion?

SEND is all we do. We’ll take the time to understand your experience, what you’re looking for and the type of setting where you’re most likely to thrive.

  • 400+ five-star Google reviews from educators

  • PAYE pay, with no umbrella company deductions

  • Support with your CV and interview preparation

  • Access to long-term and permanent SEND opportunities

  • A dedicated consultant to support you throughout your placement
