The right support can change a child's experience of school.
Not every child finds learning straightforward. Some need extra encouragement to join in, others need help managing their emotions, communicating with others or finding confidence in the classroom.
We're looking for someone who understands that progress looks different for every child and is willing to put in the time to help them get there.
Parker Smith Inclusion is working with a school in Chelmsford looking for a Learning Support Assistant to support pupils with SEND and additional needs.
What will you be doing?
You'll help pupils feel settled, take part in lessons and build the skills they need to become more confident and independent.
Your role will involve:
-
Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
-
Helping children access classroom activities and learning
-
Encouraging communication, social interaction and participation
-
Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour
-
Building consistent, trusting relationships with pupils
-
Working alongside teachers and support staff to meet individual needs
Some days will be about helping a pupil tackle a learning activity. Others might be about giving them the reassurance they need to try something new or get through a difficult moment. Both matter.
Who would suit this role?
You might already be working as a Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant, or you could be looking for a way into education.
Experience in care, childcare, youth work, mentoring, coaching or support work can all be relevant. You don't need to have followed one particular career path, but you do need to be patient, reliable and genuinely interested in helping children develop.
We're looking for someone who can build rapport, stay calm when things get challenging and adapt their approach to suit different pupils.
Why work with Parker Smith Inclusion?
SEND is all we do, so we understand the importance of finding a setting where you can do your best work.
