You will be an integral part of the team, providing both academic and emotional support to help pupils access learning and reach their full potential. This role is predominantly classroom-based, working under the guidance of teaching and senior staff, while also offering general support in the management of pupils and the learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support primary-aged pupils with autism, speech and language delays, and complex communication needs
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support, including support for pre-verbal pupils
  • Assist pupils in accessing the curriculum through adapted communication strategies and sensory-informed approaches
  • Work under the direction of teaching and senior staff to support learning and behaviour
  • Provide general classroom support, including helping to manage routines, transitions, and engagement
  • Support pupils’ emotional regulation, communication development, and independence
  • Contribute to a calm, inclusive, and structured learning environment

About the Provision:

  • A specialised autism provision supporting 59 children with autism
  • Highly resourced classrooms with access to specialist support
  • Strong focus on communication, sensory regulation, and individualised learning
  • Collaborative team environment with experienced teaching and support staff

About You:

  • Experience working with children with autism and/or speech and language needs (school-based or alternative settings)
  • Confidence supporting pre-verbal pupils and children with complex communication needs
  • A calm, patient, and nurturing approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to follow structured guidance while using initiative to support pupils effectively
  • A genuine passion for inclusive and specialist education
  • Relevant experience or qualifications (e.g. Teaching Assistant, SEN support, childcare, psychology, youth work) are desirable but not essential

What’s on Offer:

  • Full-time, long-term role with the opportunity to go permanent
  • Competitive daily pay of £90 – £100, dependent on experience
  • Supportive and experienced SEN team
  • Access to specialist training and ongoing professional development
  • Opportunity to build long-term relationships with pupils and staff
