Learning Support Assistant – Specialist SEND School

Location: Witham, Essex
Hours: 8:30am – 4:00pm (Term Time Only)
Pay: £100–£105 per day
Contract: Temp-to-Perm

Parker Smith Inclusion is delighted to be working in partnership with a rapidly expanding specialist school in Witham, supporting children and young people aged 4–19 with a range of SEND, including ASC, ADHD, SEMH and SLD. Many pupils require structured, individualised support to help regulate emotions and engage positively with learning.

The school is renowned for its nurturing ethos, personalised support plans and commitment to helping every pupil reach their full potential.

We are currently seeking dedicated, patient and resilient Learning Support Assistants to join the team on a temp-to-perm basis.

About the Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with pupils on a 1:1 or 2:1 basis, supporting both their learning and emotional wellbeing throughout the school day. You will help implement individual education and behaviour plans, providing consistency, encouragement and structure.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Supporting learning activities in and out of the classroom
  • Assisting pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour management
  • Implementing personalised strategies set by teaching and SEND teams
  • Encouraging independence, communication and engagement
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and support staff
  • Remaining calm, patient and consistent in challenging situations
  • Providing personal care where required
  • Being flexible to support across different areas of the school
