Learning Support Assistants – SEMH School
Barnet
£100 – £120 per day PAYE
Full Time only, September start
We are working with a specialist SEMH school in Barnet that is looking for experienced Learning Support Assistants to join their team from September.
When working in SEND education, no day is ever the same. It is important that the right person understands that behaviour is communication and can build strong, consistent relationships with young people who may have experienced barriers to education. The school supports pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs, so previous school-based experience and strong behaviour management skills are essential.
The role:
- Supporting pupils with SEMH needs across the school
- Working 1:1 and in small groups
- Helping pupils engage with learning and regulate their emotions
- Treating pupils with dignity and understanding that behaviours that challenge is communication
- Building positive, trusting relationships with young people
- Supporting behaviour, routines and structure throughout the school day
- Working closely with teachers, pastoral staff and the wider support team
The ideal person will have:
- Previous experience working in a school setting
- Strong SEMH or behaviour support experience
- A calm, resilient and consistent approach
- Confidence supporting pupils with challenging behaviour
- A genuine passion for making a difference in specialist education
This would suit someone with experience as an LSA, Behaviour Mentor, SEMH Teaching Assistant, Youth Worker or someone who has worked with vulnerable young people in a school or specialist setting.
Please get in touch with Jamie Martinez, if you are available from September and interested in a long-term role within a specialist SEMH school.
