Maths Teacher – Alternative Provision
- Location: Bexley
- Start Date: September 2026
- Contract: Full-Time, Long term
- Salary: upto £34,000
Do you want to teach Maths in a setting where relationships matter as much as results?
Where every small achievement is celebrated, and every young person is seen for who they are, not just the challenges they face?
We are working with a remarkable specialist school in the South West London area, purpose-built for children and young people with Autism, ADHD, and Speech and Language Difficulties. The environment is calm, nurturing, and thoughtfully designed to help students feel safe, understood, and ready to learn.
Students are taught in small classes with high levels of adult support, and the curriculum is adapted to meet each learner’s individual needs and EHCP targets. Lessons combine structure with creativity, and there is genuine space to teach in the way you know works best.
What is it like to work in this type of school?
Working in an alternative provision is often very rewarding, but it can also be challenging. You must be able to demonstrate a keen interest in this area and understand the challenges and barriers to education for young people with needs.
Staff are expected to:
- Build positive relationships with students who may have had difficult experiences in education
- Use creativity and flexibility in teaching
- Manage challenging behaviour calmly and professionally
- Work closely with families and external support agencies
- Focus on both educational progress and emotional wellbeing
