Mental Health / Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant
Location: Barnet
Pay: £90–£120 per day (PAYE, depending on experience)
Hours: Full time, term time only
Start: ASAP
We’re currently recruiting Mental Health Teaching Assistants to support children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.
These roles are within specialist settings where relationships are key. Pupils may struggle with regulation, behaviour or trust, so schools are looking for adults who are calm under pressure and genuinely care about making a difference.
You don’t need to be a teacher, many successful candidates come from care, youth work, mental health or support roles.
In this role, you’ll be:
-
Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour
-
Building positive, consistent relationships
-
Helping young people engage with learning and routines
-
Working alongside teachers and wider support teams
This role could be right for you if:
-
You’re resilient, patient and empathetic
-
You have experience with vulnerable young people (or a strong interest)
-
You’re looking for a meaningful, long-term role
-
You want experience in SEMH or mental health settings
