We are working with an arts specialist school in Islington that is looking for a Music & Digital Technology Tutor to join their team every Friday from September.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a background in music production, music technology, youth work, creative arts or education who wants to inspire young people through music. You'll be supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them build confidence, express themselves creatively and develop valuable skills for the future.

About the Role

Every Friday you'll deliver engaging, practical music sessions where pupils can explore their creativity in a supportive environment. Using music production and digital technology, you'll help students develop new skills, build confidence and enjoy learning in a way that works for them.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Planning and delivering engaging Music Technology sessions for pupils with SEMH needs

• Teaching digital music production using software such as GarageBand, Logic Pro, Ableton Live, BandLab or similar

• Supporting projects including beat-making, songwriting, recording, podcasting and music production

• Adapting sessions to meet individual learning, emotional and sensory needs

• Using music to support emotional regulation, confidence and self-expression

• Creating a calm, inclusive and supportive learning environment

• Supporting pupils working towards vocational music qualifications

• Maintaining music equipment including laptops, MIDI controllers, microphones, iPads and recording equipment

• Using positive behaviour strategies and trauma-informed approaches to support engagement

• Working closely with school staff to celebrate progress and support positive outcomes

About You

We're looking for someone who:

• Has experience working with young people with SEMH, SEND, Autism, ADHD or behaviours that challenge

• Has a strong background in music production, music technology or digital audio

• Is confident using Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) such as GarageBand, Logic Pro, Ableton Live, BandLab or similar software

• Has experience teaching, tutoring, coaching, mentoring or supporting young people

• Understands how music and creativity can support emotional regulation, wellbeing and engagement

• Has knowledge of trauma-informed practice, neurodiversity and supporting young people with additional needs

• Holds a qualification in Music Technology, Music Production, Creative Arts, Youth Work or a related subject (desirable)

• Holds QTS or QTLS (welcome but not essential)

• Is patient, adaptable and passionate about helping young people reach their potential
