Salary: NHS Band 4 Outer London (Term time salary - £23,325 - £25,189)
Contract: Full-Time, Term Time Only – September Start
Are you passionate about making a daily difference in the lives of children with additional needs? Are you interested in developing your skills across both Speech & Language Therapy (SALT) and Occupational Therapy (OT)?
This is a unique opportunity to join a specialist therapy team that supports children and young people with a range of additional needs in schools and community settings. You’ll work under the guidance of qualified therapists, delivering tailored intervention programmes that help children to communicate more confidently, improve their independence, and thrive both in and out of the classroom.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Deliver 1:1 and small group therapy sessions across both speech and occupational therapy programmes
- Support children with communication needs, sensory processing differences, motor coordination challenges, and autism
- Prepare and adapt therapy resources, sensory equipment, and communication tools (e.g., visuals, AAC devices)
- Record observations, track progress, and contribute to therapy reports
- Work closely with families, teachers, SENCOs, and therapists to ensure consistency and promote positive outcomes
Who We’re Looking For:
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEND or communication needs in schools, nurseries, or community settings
- Confident communicator, able to adapt your approach depending on individual needs
- A warm, proactive and organised team player who is eager to learn
- Interested in progressing towards a career in therapy, special education, or child development
Bonus Points If You Have:
- A Level 3 qualification in Health & Social Care, Child Development, or similar
- Familiarity with SALT tools like Makaton, PECS, visuals or OT approaches like sensory circuits, fine motor exercises
- Previous experience supporting autism, ADHD, or sensory processing needs
