At Parker Smith Inclusion, we are proud to be working in partnership with a thoughtful and nurturing primary school in Havering to find the right person for a role that truly matters.
This is not just a teaching role.
It is a relationship. A steady presence. A chance to change how school feels for one child.
We are looking for someone who understands that for some children, learning does not begin with a lesson plan. It begins with trust.
You will be working one to one with a Year 1 child with Pathological Demand Avoidance and Autism. He is currently learning in his own calm, dedicated space within the school. Right now, school feels safest in small doses, so the timetable is reduced. The aim is gentle growth, at his pace, back towards a fuller experience.
Your role will be to walk alongside them through that journey.
What this role really is
You will be their constant in a world that can feel overwhelming.
Someone who reads the moment, not just the plan.
Someone who knows that flexibility is not a compromise. It is the strategy.
Before the classroom, there will be time to connect, in a space where he feels comfortable, building trust in a way that makes the transition into school feel possible, not pressured.
You will not be fitting them into school.
You will be helping school fit around them.
Who this might suit
What matters is what you know, what you have seen, and how you work.
You will likely recognise yourself here:
• You have supported children with PDA or complex neurodivergent profiles and understand the nuance it requires
• You stay calm in the face of resistance and do not take behaviour personally
• You know how to hold boundaries without escalating, and when to step back
• You understand what it means to be a consistent and safe presence
• You are comfortable with things not looking typical, because typical is not always right
What you will find here
A primary school that thinks differently.
Spaces designed for children who need something beyond the classroom
A team who understand that success does not always look like sitting at a desk.
This is a setting that values connection first and learning follows.
We are not expecting you to arrive and fix things.
We are offering time. Time to build trust, to get to know each other, and to create the right foundations.
If you are someone who measures progress in moments of connection, not just outcomes, this role will mean something to you.
And to them, it could mean everything.
