I am working alongside a specialist school based in Ealing who are looking for a Nurture Practitioner to support neurodivergent students with a primary diagnosis of Autism and SEMH in a school setting and off-site.

 

About the school:

This is a well-established special school based in the heart of Ealing, providing high-quality education to neurodivergent students. Due to taking on more student referrals from Local Authorities, the school is expanding and will be operating across 2 sites with state-of-the-art facilities and support for students across their new primary provision.

About the Nurture Practitioner role:

Although this is still predominately a classroom-based role, you will be taking on more responsibility to support student wellbeing and progress. You will gain the opportunity to work directly with senior staff provide reviews in student EHCP’s and play a key part in developing strategies to support their behaviour.

The role involves:

  • Working in a 1:1 setting or in small groups of no more than 6
  • Supporting students with a primary diagnosis in Autism and SEMH
  • Developing strategies to support and manage their behaviour
  • Focusing on developing social skills of students
  • Working on raising attainment on previous missed milestones
  • Creating a calm, inclusive classroom environment

 

Who this role suits:

This role would suit a Nurture Practitioner who:

  • Proven experience working with young people within an SEMH or therapeutic educational setting
  • A strong understanding of therapeutic education, with the ability to engage and build positive relationships with students who have complex needs
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt to meet the social and emotional needs of each student
  • An understanding of social anxiety, social skills challenges, and language processing difficulties, with practical strategies to support students facing these issues
  • A calm, patient, and resilient personality, with a commitment to maintaining professional boundaries
