As a Nurture Teacher, you understand the importance of shaping young minds through an enriched curriculum of core subjects that are engaging and fun. You also have the responsibility of supporting children through transitional periods as they prepare for the wider world, ensuring that they leave their time at primary school as confident and curious learners.

Now imagine being able to provide that experience in an alternative provision, for vulnerable children with Social Emotional Mental Health Needs, where your knowledge and support will be invaluable.

The role

An expanding specialist school are looking for a Nurture Teacher to join their Key Stage 3 team and be a part of their journey in supporting children with complex Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties. This environment is very challenging; you will be engaging with children who have experienced trauma, many of which have a dual diagnosis of ADHD/ASC.

This school understands the importance of education, but also the gap that comes with supporting children with SEMH in education. The school is dedicated to changing this narrative by creating a flourishing environment for these pupils, by providing a provision that prepares them for life beyond school and creating meaningful steps for change. The curriculum offers enriching opportunities tailored to each child’s development and led with the principles of warmth, nurture and structure.

What you will bring

  • Ensure effective teaching through clear objectives that build on children’s abilities.
  •  Provide structured and engaging tasks within lessons that appropriately challenges pupils.
  • A positive and resilient personality that motivates pupils to achieve and encourages positive behaviour.
  • Experience in supporting pupils during transitional periods.
  • QTS is essential, understanding of complex SEMH needs is desirable.
