About the role
Some young people do not need another person to tell them what they are doing wrong.
They need someone to recognise what is getting in their way.
For pupils with additional needs, particularly those with social, emotional and mental health needs, the biggest barrier to learning is not always academic. It can be anxiety, low confidence, difficult experiences or simply losing the belief that they are capable of succeeding.
A specialist education setting in West London is looking for an inspiring Nurture Teacher and Deputy SENCO who can combine excellent classroom practice with a genuine commitment to improving the experience of pupils with additional needs.

The setting
The setting provides specialist support for children and young people with additional needs within a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment.
Individual development, wellbeing and achievement are placed at the heart of the provision, with staff working collaboratively to understand pupils and remove barriers to learning.
The environment is structured and supportive, giving pupils the stability they need while allowing teachers to adapt their approach around individual needs.
As Nurture Teacher and Deputy SENCO, you will play an important role both in the classroom and in supporting the wider SEND provision.
The role
As a Nurture Teacher, you will plan and deliver high quality, engaging and differentiated lessons that are accessible to pupils with a range of additional needs.
You will create a classroom environment where pupils feel safe enough to participate, make mistakes and develop confidence in themselves as learners.
Alongside your teaching responsibilities, you will support the SENCO with the coordination and development of SEND provision across the setting.
You will help ensure that pupils receive appropriate support and that staff have the information, strategies and guidance they need to meet individual needs effectively.
You will:
• Plan and deliver high quality, differentiated lessons
• Support pupils with SEMH and additional learning needs
• Raise standards of student progress and achievement
• Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
• Adapt teaching and learning to remove barriers to progress
• Promote independence, resilience and confidence
• Assess, monitor and record pupil progress
• Support personalised approaches for individual pupils
• Work closely with the SENCO, teaching staff and pastoral teams
• Support the identification and assessment of additional needs
• Contribute to the development and review of SEND provision
• Support staff in implementing appropriate strategies and interventions
• Contribute to EHCP processes and reviews
• Liaise with parents, carers and relevant professionals where appropriate
• Help ensure SEND policies and procedures are implemented effectively
• Promote inclusive practice across the setting
• Act as a positive role model for professional practice
Who this is for
This role would suit an experienced teacher who wants to combine their passion for nurture and inclusive teaching with an opportunity to develop their SEND leadership experience.
You will ideally have experience working with pupils with SEMH, SEN or additional learning needs and a strong understanding of how high quality teaching can be adapted to meet individual needs.
You will need to be organised, approachable and confident working collaboratively with colleagues, families and external professionals.
Most importantly, you will be someone who genuinely believes that every pupil can make progress when the right support is in place.
