SEMH Teaching Assistant
Specialist Creative Provision

Bexley
Full-Time
Long-Term Opportunity
Salary to be discussed.

As a Teaching Assistant, you know that behaviour is often communication.

Behind the disruption, the shutdowns, or the refusal to engage, there is usually a young person who needs consistency, patience, and someone willing to understand their story.

This specialist provision in Bexley supports students with SEMH needs through a highly therapeutic and creative approach to education. For many of the young people here, mainstream education hasn’t worked. This school exists to change that.

The environment has been carefully built to help students feel safe, understood, and able to reconnect with learning at their own pace. Creativity, self-expression, and relationships are at the centre of everything they do.

Staff within the school are supportive, welcoming, and genuinely passionate about helping young people succeed. There is a real sense of teamwork throughout the setting, with leaders who are hands-on, approachable, and invested in supporting staff wellbeing and development.

The Role

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will support students both inside and outside the classroom, helping them regulate emotions, engage with learning, and build positive relationships.

Lessons are often delivered through creative, practical, and therapeutic approaches including art, music, drama, and project-based learning. Your role will be to provide the consistency and encouragement students need to access education successfully.

No two days will ever look the same, but every day will have purpose.

Who This Role Would Suit

  • Experience supporting SEMH, SEND, or challenging behaviour

  • Youth work, mentoring, care, or support work backgrounds welcomed

  • Calm, resilient, and emotionally intelligent individuals

  • Strong relationship-builders with a patient and nurturing approach

  • Passion for supporting vulnerable young people through education

The school understands that the right staff make all the difference and invests heavily in ongoing support and training for its team.

Working within SEMH education can be challenging, but the impact you have is immeasurable.

For many students, the adults around them become the reason they begin to trust education again.

At Parker Smith Inclusion, we believe finding the right school matters. We work closely with specialist settings to ensure staff feel supported, valued, and able to make the difference they came into education to make.
