About the role

A specialist SEND school in Hillingdon is looking for an Occupational Therapist to join its team, supporting young people with SEMH and a range of additional needs.

This is a school-based Occupational Therapist role where your clinical expertise can directly influence how pupils learn, regulate, participate and develop independence.

The setting

The school supports young people aged 11–19 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs alongside SEND, including Autism, ADHD and speech, language and social communication needs.

The approach is centred around understanding individual barriers and giving pupils practical strategies that help them participate more successfully in school and everyday life.

The role

As an Occupational Therapist, you will:

Complete occupational therapy assessments
Develop individualised OT programmes and interventions
Support sensory, functional and developmental needs
Identify barriers to learning and independence
Support pupils with SEMH and additional needs
Work closely with teachers and pastoral staff
Provide practical strategies for education staff
Contribute to EHCP assessments and reviews
Monitor progress and adapt interventions
Work with families and other professionals

You will have the opportunity to make occupational therapy part of the wider school environment rather than simply delivering individual sessions.

Who we are looking for

This role would suit an Occupational Therapist with experience working with children or young people, particularly within paediatrics, SEND, education or related settings.

You will need to be:

HCPC registered
Confident with assessment and intervention
A strong clinical thinker
Comfortable supporting complex needs
Able to build positive relationships
Organised and confident producing reports
Collaborative and adaptable
Committed to person-centred practice

Experience with SEMH, Autism, sensory needs or communication difficulties would be beneficial.
