For many young people with complex physical, sensory, and communication needs, that uncertainty shapes every hour of the day. An Occupational Therapist who understands this, and who can turn assessment into support that pupils actually feel the benefit of, changes what that day looks like.
If your current role has you writing more reports than delivering therapy, consider whether it is giving you what you deserve. This SEND specialist school in South West London wants an Occupational Therapist who can spend real time with pupils, not process them through a caseload.
The school supports pupils aged 4 to 19 with SLD and autism (ASC). Sensory and water-based activities are built into the timetable, alongside a strong focus on postural management, communication support, and daily living skills. Leadership backs therapy with time and resources, and pupils benefit from working with a team that knows them well. The school is within commuting distance of Wimbledon and Twickenham.
As an Occupational Therapist, you will:
- Carry out functional and sensory assessments for pupils with SLD and autism
- Write and review Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) outcome reports and targets
- Deliver 1:1 and small group therapy sessions across the school day
- Advise staff on postural management, equipment, and moving and handling
- Work alongside teachers, therapists, and families to keep interventions consistent
About you:
- You have a genuine interest in supporting children and young people with complex physical and sensory needs
- You hold a degree in Occupational Therapy and current HCPC registration
- You have experience working with children or young people with SEND, ideally SLD or PMLD
- You are confident in contributing to EHCP documentation and annual reviews
- You work well within a multidisciplinary team and communicate clearly with families
