Are you an Occupational Therapist looking for a role where your work can make a genuine difference to young people's lives?

Parker Smith Inclusion is working with a specialist education setting in Hillingdon to recruit a Band 5/6 Occupational Therapist to support young people aged 11–19 with SEMH needs and complex SEND.

This is an opportunity to bring your clinical skills into an educational environment, helping students overcome challenges, develop practical life skills and build the confidence to become more independent.

About the Role

You will play an important part in supporting students who experience difficulties with sensory processing, emotional regulation, functional skills and participation in everyday school life.

Working closely with teachers, support staff, families and other professionals, you will deliver tailored interventions that help students engage with learning and achieve meaningful outcomes.

Whether you are an experienced Occupational Therapist or looking to develop your skills within specialist education, this role offers the opportunity to apply your knowledge in a rewarding and collaborative setting.

The Setting

The school provides specialist education for young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, alongside additional needs such as autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties and complex SEND.

The approach focuses on understanding each student's individual needs and helping them develop the skills required to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.

You will work alongside education professionals and a wider therapeutic team to support students' development, wellbeing and preparation for adulthood.

The Role

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assessing students' occupational therapy needs and identifying barriers to participation.

  • Planning and delivering individualised therapeutic interventions.

  • Supporting sensory processing and emotional regulation.

  • Developing students' functional abilities and everyday independence.

  • Helping students access learning and participate in school routines.

  • Advising staff on practical strategies to support individual needs.

  • Contributing to EHCP targets, reviews and progress monitoring.

  • Working collaboratively with families and other professionals.

  • Reviewing interventions and adapting support where necessary.

  • Promoting positive outcomes across education, wellbeing and independence.

Who We're Looking For

We are seeking a qualified Occupational Therapist who is motivated to support young people with additional needs and can adapt their approach to a specialist school environment.

Ideally, you will have:

  • HCPC registration.

  • Experience in occupational therapy, preferably with children or young people.

  • An understanding of SEND, SEMH, autism or ADHD.

  • Knowledge of sensory integration, sensory processing or emotional regulation.

  • Experience developing and reviewing intervention plans.

  • Strong communication and collaborative working skills.

  • A flexible, patient and practical approach to problem-solving.

Applications are welcome from Band 5 and Band 6 Occupational Therapists with relevant experience and an interest in developing their practice within specialist education.

Why This Role Matters

Occupational therapy can help young people overcome barriers that affect their ability to learn, interact with others and manage everyday activities.

Through your support, students can develop strategies to manage sensory needs, improve their participation in lessons and build the practical skills needed for greater independence.

Your contribution will help create opportunities for young people to make progress at their own pace and prepare for life beyond school.

What You Can Expect

  • £170–£260 per day PAYE.

  • Full-time working hours.

  • Term-time-only position.

  • Temp-to-perm opportunity.

  • Specialist SEMH and SEND education setting.

  • Opportunity to support students aged 11–19.

  • Collaborative working with education staff and other therapists.

  • Scope to develop your experience in specialist education.

  • A rewarding role focused on meaningful, long-term outcomes.
