About the Role – Outdoor Specialist SEN Teacher
This specialist position focuses on delivering bespoke, outdoor-centred learning for secondary-aged students with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) and complex social communication differences.
Learning is practical, experiential, and highly personalised, with a strong emphasis on emotional wellbeing, communication, and life skills development.
You will:
- Teach a secondary class through a practical, outdoor-based curriculum.
- Deliver learning that is less academically driven and more experiential and therapeutic.
- Support students using the SCERTS framework to develop communication and emotional regulation.
- Create meaningful learning experiences through nature, animals, and real-world activities.
- Work within a highly supportive, therapeutic team environment.
About the School
This is a multisite specialist SEN school supporting children and young people with a wide range of needs, including complex social communication difficulties.
While you will have a main base, the role involves travel to various outdoor learning venues, making it ideal for teachers who enjoy variety, movement, and non-traditional teaching environments.
