Outreach Community HLTA / SEN Tutor
- Kingston, South West London
- £130 per day (PAYE)
- Full-time, Long-term contract
- ASAP Start
Some young people can’t access a traditional school environment right now, but they still deserve high-quality teaching, patience, and a trusted adult who believes in them. This role offers precisely that.
We are supporting a specialist outreach and inclusion service in Kingston that works with children and young people who are currently unable to attend school full-time. Their needs may include Autism, ADHD, SEMH, trauma, anxiety, EBSA, or complex social circumstances.
Your teaching will take place in the community, rather than in a traditional classroom. Sessions may be held in a local hub, a library, or occasionally in the family home. You meet the student where they are and help them rebuild confidence, stability, and engagement in learning.
This position is ideal for someone calm, consistent, adaptable, and committed to helping young people re-enter education at a pace that feels safe for them.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver national-curriculum-aligned learning to KS1–KS4 pupils on a 1:1 outreach basis
- Plan and adapt lessons to suit individual needs, interests, and EHCP outcomes
- Support emotional regulation and confidence-building through relationship-led practice
- Work closely with outreach teachers, caseworkers, and external professionals
- Maintain accurate session notes and contribute to progress reviews
- Provide reliable, nurturing support, becoming a trusted, steady presence for each young person
Essential Requirements
- 1–2 years’ experience working in a UK school as a SEND TA, HLTA, or SEN Tutor
- Strong understanding of Autism, ADHD, SEMH, EBSA, or related needs
- Confident in delivering and adapting the national curriculum
- Skilled in behaviour support and building positive, trusting relationships
- Calm, resilient, and consistent in approach
- A full UK driving licence is helpful but not essential
