Outreach Learning Mentor – Therapeutic Support for Young People
Location: Barking and Dagenham
Hours: Full time, Monday to Friday | 8:30am to 4:30pm

Make a Difference for Young People Who Need Extra Support

We are recruiting an Outreach Learning Mentor for a leading therapeutic organisation working across London. This team provides care and guidance for vulnerable young people, helping them re-engage with learning and life through consistent, nurturing support.

In this role, you will work with young people who have been out of education for significant periods and may not yet be ready to return to a mainstream school. Over two terms, you will support them through induction, assessment, and transition, offering stability, guidance, and therapeutic support as they take their next steps.

Many of the young people you will work with have social emotional and mental health needs or Autism Spectrum Condition, alongside challenges linked to trauma, exploitation, or adverse experiences. You will build meaningful relationships, support emotional regulation, and provide interventions that empower them to progress at their own pace.

Why This Role Matters

This organisation has a strong track record of transforming lives. Young people often regain confidence, re-engage with learning, and develop emotional resilience thanks to the one-to-one support they receive.

For example, a student with a history of exclusions, low attendance, PTSD, and behavioural difficulties recently benefited from consistent mentoring and successfully transitioned into a specialist school. Attendance reached 93 percent and they are now thriving. Your support will enable more young people to achieve similar success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop personalised learning and support plans for each young person

  • Provide one-to-one therapeutic mentoring outside of a classroom setting

  • Help young people move from disengagement to stability, confidence, and achievement

What You Will Receive

  • Lunch and travel expenses covered during the working day

  • Full time hours, Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm

  • The opportunity to support multiple young people across London

Who We Are Looking For

  • Experience supporting young people with dysregulated behaviour and understanding the underlying factors

  • A trauma-informed, therapeutic approach

  • Compassion, resilience, and a genuine desire to create positive change

If you are motivated to make a meaningful impact and want to be part of a dedicated, supportive team, we would love to hear from you.
