Not all classrooms have four walls…
Some young people simply can’t thrive in busy schools right now. They need calm, consistency, and a trusted adult who believes in them. That’s where you come in.
As an Outreach Tutor, you’ll bring learning and encouragement directly to students with Autism, ADHD, anxiety, trauma and SEMH needs, whether that’s in a library, a community space, or their own home. Every session is a chance to help a child take a step forward, however small.
What you’ll be doing
- Delivering one-to-one core subjects support for children aged 5–16
- Meeting students where they feel safest, at home or in the community
- Helping with emotional regulation, confidence and resilience as much as academics
- Building trusting relationships with young people who may have lost faith in school
- Working independently but with full support from our team behind you
- Using a patient, trauma-informed approach where progress is celebrated, not pressured
Is this you?
- You’re calm, reliable, and naturally connect with young people
- You have solid experience in school settings supporting children with SEN / SEMH
- You’re confident in planning and delivering creative lessons to one-to-one and flexible enough to adapt to each child’s needs
- You can travel around Kingston and Richmond (a car helps, but isn’t essential)
Why this role matters
- You’ll help children rediscover the joy of learning in their own way
- You’ll see progress in confidence, self-esteem and trust
- You’ll gain meaningful experience for careers in teaching, therapy or educational psychology
- No two days are ever the same; every child, every space, every journey is different
- Most importantly, you’ll know you’re making a real difference in a young person’s life
What we offer
- £130 per day, weekly pay via PAYE (no umbrella deductions)
- Training in trauma-informed and relational approaches
- A supportive consultant who genuinely understands the emotional side of the role
- Long-term opportunities across South West London
- A route into SEN careers from therapy to teaching
