Parker Smith Inclusion is working with a specialist SEN school in Brent that is looking for a passionate Paediatric Occupational Therapist to join its established multidisciplinary team.
A clinical role with real purpose
This is an opportunity to bring your occupational therapy expertise into an environment where therapy is genuinely embedded within education.
You'll work closely with teachers, support staff, families and other clinicians to understand each pupil as an individual and develop practical strategies that can be used throughout their school day.
The school supports children and young people aged 3–19 with a diverse range of complex needs, giving you exposure to a varied and rewarding caseload.
You'll work alongside an established on-site MDT including Occupational Therapists, Speech & Language Therapists, Physiotherapists, Therapy Assistants and Creative Arts Therapists.
Your role
As a Band 6 Paediatric Occupational Therapist, you'll provide specialist assessment, intervention and clinical advice across a diverse pupil population.
You'll be responsible for:

Completing specialist occupational therapy assessments.

Delivering individualised interventions for pupils with physical, sensory, cognitive and developmental needs.

Developing personalised therapy programmes and practical strategies.

Supporting pupils to develop independence and functional skills.

Contributing to EHCP assessments, annual reviews and professional reports.

Working alongside teachers to embed therapeutic strategies into everyday classroom practice.

Providing advice, training and guidance to education staff.

Working collaboratively with the wider MDT to create holistic plans.

Monitoring outcomes and adapting interventions to meet changing needs.

Contributing to wider therapy and service development.
This isn't a role where therapy sits separately from education.
You'll see your clinical recommendations put into practice throughout the school day and have the opportunity to see how your work directly influences a pupil's ability to learn, communicate, participate and become more independent.
Who we're looking for
We're keen to hear from therapists who are passionate about paediatric occupational therapy and want to develop their specialist SEND experience.
You may be an experienced paediatric OT looking for a new challenge, or a Band 6 therapist looking to develop your expertise within a specialist education setting.
You'll need:

HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist.

Experience working with children and young people.

Experience within paediatrics, SEND, complex needs or a related setting.

An understanding of SEND and the EHCP process.

Strong assessment and clinical reasoning skills.

The ability to develop effective intervention plans.

Excellent communication and collaborative working skills.

A genuine commitment to helping children develop independence and reach their potential.
Previous experience within a specialist school would be beneficial, but transferable experience from paediatric or complex-needs settings will also be considered.
