Teaching Assistant – Physical Disabilities Support (Year 4 Complex Needs Student)
Location: Barnet, North London
Pay: £90–£100 per day
Contract: Term-time only
Start Date: As soon as possible

We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and dedicated Teaching Assistant to support a Year 4 pupil with complex physical needs in a welcoming junior school in the area of Barnet.

This rewarding role involves providing 1:1 support to a pupil with significant complex needs, helping them access learning, participate in classroom activities, and feel fully included in school life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individualised 1:1 support for a Year 4 pupil with complex physical needs throughout the school day
  • Assist with mobility, positioning, and physical access to learning activities
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals to implement tailored learning strategies
  • Support the pupil with classroom tasks, communication, and engagement in lessons
  • Promote independence, confidence, and inclusion within the classroom environment
  • Follow any care plans, therapy programmes, or medical guidance where required

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Experience supporting children with physical disabilities and/or complex needs
  • A calm, nurturing, and patient approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • The ability to adapt learning materials and approaches to suit individual needs
  • An understanding of inclusive education and safeguarding responsibilities
  • Relevant qualifications or training in SEN, care, or education (desirable but not essential)
