A specialist school in Havering is looking for a dedicated PMLD Support Assistant to join their team on a long-term basis. This is a brilliant opportunity for someone with at least a year of experience in SEND and a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, ready to take on a role that truly makes a difference.

About the School

This is a nurturing, inclusive environment for pupils with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD) and associated complex needs. Learners may be non-verbal, use wheelchairs, and require high levels of personalised support. Classrooms range from calm, sensory-focused spaces to more active and physically demanding environments, but every setting shares the same commitment: to protect dignity, encourage progress, and support each child’s individual journey.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Delivering 1:1 and small-group support in line with EHCPs and learning plans

  • Supporting sensory, therapeutic, and play-based activities

  • Using tools such as PECS, visual timetables, and assistive technology to aid communication

  • Assisting with personal care needs including feeding, toileting, and hoisting (training provided)

  • Creating a safe, structured, and positive environment where pupils can thrive

What We’re Looking For

  • At least 1 year’s experience working with children or young people with SEND

  • Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification

  • Confidence in supporting pupils with PMLD, physical disabilities, or complex needs

  • Calm, resilient, and empathetic approach to challenges

  • Strong teamwork skills and a genuine passion for inclusive education

What You’ll Gain

  • The chance to build specialist experience in PMLD and complex needs

  • A warm, supportive team environment

  • Ongoing professional development and training opportunities

  • A rewarding role where no achievement is too small to celebrate

Why Parker Smith Inclusion?

  • SEND-focused recruitment with a people-first ethos

  • PAYE only — no umbrella companies or hidden deductions

  • Long-term placements with ongoing consultant support

  • Honest, transparent recruitment focused on your wellbeing
