Are you a dedicated and compassionate teacher who believes that every young person deserves an education that truly meets their individual needs?

Parker Smith Inclusion is working in partnership with a well-established secondary specialist school in Camden to recruit an experienced Special Needs Teacher for a full-time, long-term position starting ASAP.

This outstanding specialist setting supports pupils with a wide range of complex needs, including Autism, SLD, PMLD, sensory processing differences, and physical or mobility needs. The school is widely recognised for its inclusive ethos, multidisciplinary working, and strong focus on communication, independence, and preparation for adulthood.


The Role

You will teach a small class of secondary-aged pupils with complex needs, supported by a skilled and experienced team of teaching assistants and therapists. Learning is personalised, purposeful, and guided by each pupil’s EHCP outcomes, with an emphasis on functional learning, communication, sensory regulation, and life skills.


Key Responsibilities

  • Planning and delivering highly differentiated lessons aligned to individual EHCPs

  • Leading and coordinating a class team, including teaching assistants and therapy staff

  • Creating a calm, structured, and engaging learning environment

  • Supporting pupils with personal care, sensory needs, and moving and handling where required

  • Using augmentative and alternative communication approaches such as Makaton or PECS to support non-verbal learners

  • Working closely with Speech & Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Physiotherapists

  • Monitoring progress and adapting provision to meet pupils’ changing needs


The Ideal Candidate

You will have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or QTLS)

  • Experience teaching pupils with SEND, particularly Autism, SLD, and/or PMLD

  • Confidence supporting pupils with complex sensory needs and personal care

  • A calm, creative, and emotionally intelligent teaching approach

  • Knowledge of Makaton, PECS, or other AAC systems (highly desirable)

  • A strong commitment to inclusive, child-centred education

First Aid training is beneficial but not essential.
