About the role
As a PMLD Teacher, your role will involve planning, preparing, and implementing engaging learning activities to ensure every child and young person enjoys learning, achieves their full potential, and experiences positive well-being. You will create a positive and creative learning environment and lead a class team to deliver outstanding teaching and learning. You will be instrumental in assessing, recording, and reporting progress for each child and contributing to Person Centred Reviews, ensuring achievements are celebrated, and key issues are discussed. This role requires you to:
- Plan and implement differentiated teaching and learning activities to meet challenging learning objectives across all areas of the curriculum.
- Provide feedback to children and young people, supporting them in assessing their own learning.
- Work in partnership with parents, colleagues, and other professionals to achieve the best possible outcomes for all children and young people.
- Liaise with professionals to design and implement individual learning programmes.
- Create a supportive classroom ethos which promotes positive wellbeing.
- Support the role of parents in learning by sharing information and taking account of their views.
- Direct and support other team members so that they develop and use their skills to provide a rich curriculum.
- Support inclusion for children through experiences in other schools, colleges and work experience schemes.
- Plan and lead educational visits, including residential visits.
- Create classroom and corridor displays which celebrate progress and support learning.
- Contribute to focus groups and other means of reviewing and improving the curriculum.

The ideal candidate for SEND Teacher role will have
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- SEN experience from either mainstream or special settings
- A passion and desire to learn and enhance their SEN skills
- A commitment to working within a team, and taking responsibility for a named area of the curriculum, as directed by the headteacher
- The ability to establish productive working relationships with children and young people, acting as a role model and setting high expectations
