PMLD Teaching Assistant - Camden
£95–£110 per day, depending on experience
Camden, Central London
Full-time | Long-term
I am looking for an experienced PMLD Teaching Assistant to work full-time within SEND education in Camden.
This is a hands-on support role for someone who is comfortable working with pupils who may have profound and multiple learning disabilities and require a high level of support throughout the school day.
The right person will understand that communication may be subtle and that progress can be found in engagement, interaction, choice-making and increasing independence.
Your responsibilities may include
-
Supporting pupils individually and within small groups
-
Helping pupils engage with sensory and differentiated learning
-
Supporting communication and interaction
-
Following individual support plans
-
Helping pupils access positioning and movement programmes where directed
-
Supporting independence and participation
-
Providing personal care where required
-
Working closely with teachers and other professionals
-
Observing and communicating changes in pupil presentation
What I am looking for
Essential:
-
Previous experience supporting children, young people or adults with significant additional needs
-
Comfortable with a hands-on support role
-
Patient, observant and reliable
-
Good teamwork and communication skills
-
Willingness to support personal care where required
Desirable:
-
Previous PMLD experience
-
Special school experience
-
Complex needs experience
-
Experience supporting non-verbal pupils
-
Previous work as a SEND TA, care worker or support worker
Why consider this role?
PMLD support requires patience and attention to detail.
The smallest response from a pupil can communicate something important, and having adults around them who learn how they communicate can make a significant difference to their experience of school.
