Job Title: Support Worker – Post-16 Students with Autism

Pay Rate: £110 per day (PAYE)

About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Support Worker to join a specialist college in Tower Hamlets, supporting post-16 students with autism. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact on young adults as they develop essential life skills, independence, and employability pathways.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to students with autism
- Support the development of life skills, including daily living and independent travel
- Assist in promoting employability skills and engagement in vocational activities
- Work with students with a range of needs, including sensory sensitivities, non-verbal communication, and dysregulated behaviour
- Implement strategies to support emotional regulation and positive behaviour
- Support with personal care where required, maintaining dignity and respect at all times
- Collaborate with teaching staff, therapists, and other professionals to deliver consistent support
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Experience supporting young adults with autism, particularly in post-16 or similar settings
- Strong understanding of autism, including sensory needs and communication differences
- Experience supporting individuals with non-verbal communication and behaviours that challenge
- A proactive and patient approach to promoting independence and life skills
- Willingness and confidence to provide personal care
- Background in or experience working with charities such as Mencap (desirable)
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
