Post-16 Learning Support Assistant – SEND
Location: Havering Post-16 Provision
Pay: £90–£100 per day (PAYE only)
Contract: Long-term Temp-to-Perm
Make a Real Difference in Young People’s Lives
This Post-16 provision supports young people who don’t always fit neatly into mainstream education. Every learner’s journey is unique, and progress after 16 can look very different. We are looking for a dedicated Learning Support Assistant who is passionate about helping students thrive academically, socially, and personally.
You will work closely with young people with autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, and social or emotional difficulties, providing consistent, structured support throughout the day. Your focus will be on helping learners engage with education, develop independence, and build the practical skills they need for life beyond the classroom.
What the Role Involves
This is a hands-on, relational role. You will:
-
Support students with learning and practical life skills
-
Help learners regulate behaviour and manage emotional challenges
-
Encourage communication, confidence, and self-expression
-
Assist students in navigating academic expectations and daily routines
-
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and the wider staff team
The role is ideal for someone who is steady, patient, observant, and comfortable working with complexity. Your support can have a profound impact on a student’s confidence, independence, and future opportunities.
The Right Person Will Have:
-
Experience supporting young people with SEND in any setting
-
A solid understanding of autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, and social/emotional difficulties
-
A calm, consistent approach to behaviour and learning support
-
The ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
What We Offer
-
Purposeful Work: Direct, meaningful involvement in students’ personal and academic development
-
Specialist Experience: Hands-on exposure to Post-16 SEND education, a unique opportunity to build expertise
-
Supportive Environment: Structured setting with experienced staff, clear guidance, and strong leadership
-
Stability: Long-term role with genuine temp-to-perm potential
If you are passionate about making a real difference for young people at a critical stage in their lives, we would love to hear from you.
