A Post-16 Setting With a Clear Purpose
This specialist Post-16 provision in Havering is known for the care and intention behind everything it does. The environment is calm, well-structured, and focused on outcomes that genuinely matter to young adults preparing for life beyond education.
Professionals who have worked here often comment on the clarity of the provision: students understand why they are there, staff work with shared purpose, and progress is measured in confidence and independence as much as qualifications.
Learning That Supports Life Beyond Education
The provision supports young people aged 16+ with a range of needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, and social or emotional differences. Learning here is meaningful and practical, designed to help students navigate the wider world with growing confidence.
Alongside academic learning, students develop everyday life skills such as travelling independently, managing money, shopping, planning routines, and understanding personal safety and wellbeing. For some learners, the focus is on communication, self-care, and independence; for others, it includes working towards recognised qualifications that support further study or future employment.
Each learner follows a personalised pathway, shaped around their strengths, interests, and long-term goals.
The Role: Supporting Confidence and Independence
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with young adults to help them apply their learning in both classroom and community settings. This is a highly relational role where consistency, patience, and encouragement make a real difference.
You will:
- Support learning within the classroom and out in the community
- Help students practise real-life skills such as shopping, travel, and decision-making
- Encourage communication, confidence, and self-advocacy
- Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and specialist staff
Your role will help students feel safe enough to try, practise, and gradually build independence.
Who This Role Is For
This role suits someone who is calm, practical, and genuinely motivated by helping young people prepare for adulthood. You may come from a background in SEND, care, youth work, or education. What matters most is an understanding that progress at Post-16 looks different for every individual, and that independence is just as important as academic outcomes.
You will be joining a supportive, well-led team that values collaboration and long-term impact.
