Primary 1:1 Teaching Assistant | Primary School | North West London | Full-Time | Start ASAP
Do you know what it means to be the person a child depends on not just to learn, but to feel safe enough to try?
Can you build a relationship with a child who experiences the world differently, earn their trust one small moment at a time, and celebrate the kind of progress that nobody else might even notice? Are you patient, warm, and completely committed to the child in front of you?
If that sounds like you, a welcoming and inclusive primary school in North West London wants to meet you.
The School
This is a school that takes inclusion seriously not as a policy, but as a practice. The staff are collaborative, the SENCO is hands-on, and the culture is one where every child is genuinely valued. You will be joining a team that supports each other, invests in professional development, and cares deeply about the wellbeing of every pupil in their community.
The Role
As their new 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will be supporting a pupil with autism on a full-time basis, following a personalised timetable designed to promote communication, independence, and social development. You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals to deliver consistent, tailored support that meets the child's individual needs. Day to day, you'll be implementing personalised learning activities, supporting engagement across curriculum lessons and structured play, encouraging positive peer interactions and confidence, and helping to create a nurturing, predictable environment where the child can feel settled and ready to learn.
This is not a background role. You will be a central, trusted figure in this child's school day and the impact you have will be real and lasting.
Who This Is For
You might be an experienced 1:1 TA or Learning Support Assistant with a strong background in autism support. Or you might be a passionate SEN support worker ready to take on a dedicated, long-term role where you can truly make your mark. Either way, you'll need to be patient, proactive, and adaptable someone who genuinely understands the needs of children with autism and communication differences, and who brings warmth and consistency to everything they do.
What You'll Get
A full-time, long-term role running Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 3:30pm, a supportive and collaborative staff team with strong SEN expertise, ongoing training and professional development opportunities, and a genuinely rewarding role where the difference you make to one child's life will be felt every single day.
Why This Role Matters
For a child with autism, the right 1:1 support can change everything how they experience school, how they see themselves, and what they believe they are capable of. This is a role that asks a lot, but gives back even more. If you're ready to show up for a child who needs you, we'd love to hear from you.
