Primary ASC Teacher
Hounslow

Permanent

Full-Time

£40,657 - £58,941 plus SEN allowance, dependent on experience

There are teachers who can deliver lessons. And then there are teachers who can create safety, predictability, trust, and joy in a classroom that may once have felt overwhelming to a child.

This role is for the second kind.

The school is a growing specialist setting for pupils with Autism and complex needs in West London. Purpose-built and thoughtfully designed, it has been created around the understanding that children learn best when they feel regulated, understood, and genuinely known by the adults around them.

Every detail of the environment reflects that philosophy. Small class sizes. Consistent routines. Specialist spaces. A collaborative staff team. Therapy and pastoral support woven into the school day rather than sitting at the edges of it.

The school is continuing to expand, which means there is real opportunity here, not only to join a supportive team, but to shape the future direction of the provision as it grows.

This position is for a Primary ASC Teacher working with pupils with Autism and associated complex needs. The school welcomes applications from experienced SEND teachers, but also from mainstream primary teachers who feel ready to move into specialist education. If you already find yourself adapting constantly, thinking relationally, and looking beyond behaviour to understand communication, your experience is highly relevant here.

The approach throughout the school is nurturing, structured, and deeply child-centred. Staff are encouraged to be reflective, curious, and creative in how they support learning. Progress is measured not only academically, but through confidence, communication, emotional regulation, independence, and relationships.

You will be teaching a small group of pupils with high levels of support around you, including experienced support staff and access to specialist professionals. The leadership team places significant emphasis on staff wellbeing and professional development, with extensive CPD and clear progression opportunities available as the school continues to grow.

The school is particularly interested in hearing from teachers with experience or interest in:

  • Autism and complex needs
  • THRIVE or relational approaches
  • Trauma-informed practice
  • Communication and sensory-based strategies
  • Supporting pupils with behaviour that challenges
  • Creating highly personalised learning approaches

QTS is required, although ECT applications are welcomed. What matters most is a genuine commitment to SEND and the ability to build meaningful relationships with pupils who need consistency, patience, and belief from the adults around them.

This is either a permanent opportunity or a fixed-term maternity cover position. Part-time applications may also be considered depending on the needs of the school.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All applicants will be subject to enhanced DBS and online checks.
