Primary Autism Teacher

Hounslow
Permanent | Full-Time
£40,657 - £58,941 plus SEN allowance, dependent on experience

Some teachers deliver lessons. Others create classrooms where children feel safe enough to learn for the first time.

This opportunity is for the second kind of teacher.

A specialist school in West London is seeking a compassionate and reflective Primary ASC Teacher to join its growing team. The school supports pupils with Autism and complex needs and has been purposefully designed around one central belief: children learn best when they feel understood, regulated, and genuinely supported by the adults around them.

Everything about the provision reflects this approach. Small class sizes, consistent routines, specialist learning spaces, integrated therapy support, and a highly collaborative staff team all contribute to an environment where both pupils and staff can thrive.

As the school continues to expand, there is a genuine opportunity not only to join a supportive and forward-thinking team, but also to play a meaningful role in shaping the future of the provision.

The Role

You will teach a small class of primary-aged pupils with Autism and associated complex needs, supported by experienced support staff and access to specialist professionals. The school takes a highly personalised approach to learning, with progress measured not only academically, but also through communication, emotional regulation, independence, confidence, and relationships.

This role would suit:

  • Experienced SEND teachers
  • Mainstream primary teachers looking to transition into specialist education
  • ECTs with a genuine passion for SEND

If you naturally adapt your teaching, think relationally, and look beyond behaviour to understand communication and need, your experience will be highly valued here.

The School is Particularly Interested in Teachers with Experience or Interest in:

  • Autism and complex needs
  • Trauma-informed and relational practice
  • THRIVE approaches
  • Communication and sensory-based strategies
  • Supporting behaviour that challenges
  • Personalised and creative curriculum delivery

What the School Offers

  • A nurturing and highly supportive working environment
  • Extensive CPD and specialist SEND training
  • Strong leadership with a genuine focus on staff wellbeing
  • Opportunities for progression as the school grows
  • A collaborative, child-centred culture where reflective practice is encouraged

QTS is required, although ECT applications are welcomed. The school is looking above all for someone patient, consistent, and committed to building meaningful relationships with pupils who need trust and stability from the adults around them.

This opportunity is available on either a permanent basis or as a fixed-term maternity cover contract. Part-time applications may also be considered.
