Primary Autism Teacher QTS - September - Hounslow
Full Time, term time only, £200 - £255 PAYE per day, in line with MPS Outer London
Do you know what it costs a child to keep trying when the curriculum was not designed with them in mind? Do you know what it looks like when a pupil finally finds a way in, not because the task got easier, but because someone took the time to find out how that particular child learns? And do you find yourself looking for a setting that provides the structure, team, and resources to actually do that work properly?
If you answered yes, a specialist school in Hounslow would be very pleased to meet you.
The School
This is a specialist SEN school in West London supporting primary-aged pupils with Autism and associated learning needs. Every pupil holds an EHCP. Classes are small, and the adult-to-pupil ratio is high. The environment is purposefully designed to meet the needs of pupils who require a significantly different approach to learning, not adaptations made at the edges of a mainstream model.
Leadership here is visible and knows the work. Staff are trusted and genuinely listened to. The culture is collaborative and creative, and resources reflect that. Planning is supported rather than left to individuals to figure out on their own. For a Teacher who has been doing good work in a setting that did not quite provide the conditions for doing it well, this is a meaningful change.
The Role
You will teach a class in which pupils are at very different developmental stages. Your planning will be genuinely differentiated, built around each child's communication style and developmental level. You will work alongside Teaching Assistants who know each pupil well, and you will use strategies suited to verbal and non-verbal pupils alike.
You will hold QTS and bring real classroom experience of Autism and associated learning needs. Confidence supporting non-verbal pupils matters as much as anything else here.
This is a long-term to permanent role, full-time and term-time only, starting September 2026. The school is commutable from Hounslow, Feltham, Twickenham, Staines-upon-Thames, Ashford and Richmond.
