Supporting Pupils Within a Primary Additional Resource Provision

We are working with a mainstream primary school in Havering that has an Additional Resource Provision supporting pupils with autism and additional learning needs.

This is a long term opportunity within a structured and supportive environment, offering consistency with the same pupils and staff team. For the right candidate there is potential for the role to become permanent.

The focus of the provision is to ensure children feel safe regulated and ready to access learning in a way that meets their individual needs.

About the Role

As a Learning Support Mentor within the primary ARP you will support pupils who may have autism alongside complex social emotional communication and learning needs. Support may be delivered on a one to one basis or in small groups.

You will help children engage with learning develop independence regulate emotions and follow structured routines. You will work closely with teachers SENCOs and other professionals as part of a collaborative team.

Key Responsibilities

Provide one to one or small group support within the primary ARP
Support learning engagement and emotional regulation throughout the school day
Implement individual strategies to meet sensory communication and behavioural needs
Assist with personal care hygiene and daily routines where required
Use positive behaviour strategies with clear and consistent boundaries
Support pupils during transitions break times and structured activities
Work collaboratively with teaching and support staff
