Primary Part-Time SENCO - January 2027 - West London

£235 - £332 PAYE per day (£705 - £995 per week), in line with MPS/UPS | Part-time, 3 days per week | January 2027

One-year contract, term-time only. Interviews are arranged ASAP - early applications are strongly recommended

When a child spends part of the day in a resource base and part in a mainstream class, who makes sure both rooms feel like theirs?

That is the SENCO’s work. In this part-time SENCO role, you will lead it across a whole primary school three days a week, starting January 2027 on a one-year contract.

Perhaps you are carrying a full-time SENCO caseload into your evenings. Perhaps you stepped back from the role and misled SEND. Either way, this post gives you that responsibility in a week with space around it.

The School and the Children

This is a mainstream primary school in West London with a specialist resource provision on site. Pupils move between the resource base and mainstream classes, so your decisions shape how included they feel across the whole school day. A team of 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistants works alongside class teachers, and you lead that team.

Handover and cover for the days you are not in school are agreed in advance. The January start gives you time to get to know the children and their families before you take full ownership. You report directly to the Headteacher and bring SEND into whole-school planning.

Commutable from Harrow and Acton.

What You Will Do

  • Lead SEND strategy across the school, including EHCP processes and annual reviews
  • Lead the resource provision, line managing its staff and planning transitions into mainstream classes
  • Supervise and train 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistants, and advise on their day-to-day deployment
  • Act as Designated Teacher for looked after children, leading PEPs with social workers and the Virtual School
  • Make sure pupils and families have a real say in decisions about their support

About You

  • A genuine interest in SEND leadership and in children getting the right support early
  • QTS, with experience leading or coordinating SEND provision in a school
  • The NPQ for SENCOs or NASENCO award, or eligibility and commitment to complete it within the statutory timeframe
  • Working knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and EHC Plan statutory deadlines
  • Confidence supervising and developing support staff

This role would suit an experienced SENCO seeking part-time hours, or an Assistant SENCO ready to lead SEND across the whole school. Experience with a resource provision or looked-after children is welcome but not essential. Apply even if one of those areas is new to you.
