Primary SEMH Class Teacher | Permanent | September Start | £40,317–£62,496

What kind of teacher does it take to become the steady point in a child's day when so much of their world outside school has felt anything but steady?

It is not about having all the answers, or never feeling stretched. It is about being the adult who shows up with warmth, structure and consistency, day after day, until a child who has struggled to trust school begins to believe that this place might be different.

This small, specialist primary school is looking for exactly that kind of teacher. If this sounds like the role you have been waiting for, keep reading.

The Setting

Just fifteen pupils, spread across three small classes, in a school built entirely around children who have not been able to thrive in a mainstream setting. Every adult here knows every child by name, by history and by what they need. The level of therapeutic support woven into daily school life is genuinely unusual, and it is there because the leadership team understands exactly what these pupils require to succeed.

Two experienced Teaching Assistants will be with you in the classroom every day. Around that core team sits a psychotherapist, a behaviour lead and a family liaison officer, alongside Speech and Language Therapy twice weekly and Occupational Therapy once a week. This is a school that has built its staffing around the reality of the children it serves, not around a budget spreadsheet.

The Role

You will take on a class of younger pupils, many of whom will be arriving at the school for the first time in September. That means starting from zero: no established routines to lean on, no existing relationships to build from, just you and a group of children who need someone patient enough to build both from the ground up.

The day to day of this role will involve:

Planning and delivering adaptive, highly structured lessons for a small group of children with complex needs Differentiating in real time across several levels of ability within the same session Working closely alongside therapists, TAs and specialist staff as part of one joined-up team Anchoring the calm, predictable structure that these pupils rely on to feel safe Teaching pupils whose needs frequently combine high-functioning Autism, ADHD, trauma or significant family disruption Who This Is For

Qualified teachers, ECTs and NQTs welcome, who bring energy, flexibility and real belief in what every child is capable of Teachers who stay grounded under pressure and can lead a room with both warmth and quiet authority People who are comfortable holding several priorities at once and adapting as the moment demands Candidates with experience in behaviour management within specialist or alternative provision, though this is not a requirement as full training will be given Anyone who has always wanted to work with the children who need the most, not the least What You Will Get

A permanent role from September, offered as a direct appointment into a genuinely stable, long-term position Two dedicated TAs supporting your classroom every single day Onsite access to a psychotherapist, behaviour lead, family liaison officer, SALT and OT Continuous CPD and specialist training built into your ongoing career at the school A place within one of the most well-resourced small school communities in London Complete, hands-on support throughout your application from Daniel at Parker Smith Inclusion Why This Role Matters

Many of the children in this school have already learned, the hard way, what it feels like to be in a classroom that was not built with them in mind. They have been excluded, misunderstood, let down by systems that could not flex to meet them. This school exists to offer something entirely different, and the teacher who leads this classroom from September will be central to making that difference real.

This role will ask a great deal of you. It will also give a great deal back. If you are ready to take it on, we would love to hear from you.
