Primary SEMH Mentor – Immediate Start | Kingsbury

Location: Kingsbury, North West London
Salary: £475–£500 per week PAYE
Contract: Full-time, long-term
Start Date: Immediate

Are you patient, resilient and passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning?

Parker Smith Inclusion is recruiting a Primary SEMH Mentor to join a mainstream primary school in Kingsbury, providing 1:1 support to a pupil with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.

You’ll provide consistent, individual support throughout the school day, helping the pupil manage their emotions, engage with learning and build positive relationships. This is an opportunity to make a genuine difference to a child’s confidence, wellbeing and experience of school.

You don’t need extensive SEND experience. The right attitude, patience and ability to build trust are what matter most.

About the Role

You’ll work on a 1:1 basis with a primary-aged pupil who needs additional support to access learning and manage the social and emotional demands of a mainstream school environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing tailored 1:1 mentoring and support throughout the school day.
  • Supporting emotional regulation and encouraging positive behaviour.
  • Helping the pupil engage with lessons, classroom routines and activities.
  • Building a trusting relationship while maintaining clear, consistent boundaries.
  • Encouraging confidence, independence and positive social interactions.
  • Working closely with the class teacher and wider school team to ensure consistent support.

Who We’re Looking For

This role could suit someone with experience in education, childcare, youth work, sports coaching, mentoring, care or behaviour support.

You’ll need to be patient, reliable and adaptable, with the confidence to remain calm when situations become challenging.

Experience supporting children with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour would be beneficial, but a positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills and a willingness to learn are equally important.

Why This Role Matters

The right support can make a real difference to a child’s confidence, emotional wellbeing and ability to access education. By providing consistency, encouragement and understanding, you’ll help a pupil develop the emotional and social skills they need to thrive in a mainstream primary school.

What You Can Expect

  • £95–£100 per day PAYE.
  • Immediate start.
  • Full-time, long-term opportunity.
  • Experience supporting a primary-aged pupil with SEMH needs.
  • The opportunity to develop your mentoring, SEND and behaviour support skills.
  • Potential pathway into a permanent position.

All staff are paid via PAYE, with no employer National Insurance deductions or agency administration fees taken from the advertised rate.
