Primary SEMH Teacher
Harlow, Essex
September 2026 Start
Long-Term or Permanent Opportunity
Imagine a classroom where progress isn’t just measured in levels or grades—but in confidence, trust, and the moment a child begins to believe in themselves again. Where relationships come first. Where every small step matters. And where your role as a teacher can genuinely change the direction of a young person’s life. If you are currently teaching in mainstream and feel ready to move into a more purposeful, relationship-led environment, this could be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for.
The Opportunity
Parker Smith Inclusion is proud to be working in partnership with a truly exceptional specialist SEMH school in Harlow.
We are looking for a compassionate and committed Primary Teacher to join this nurturing, forward-thinking setting from September 2026. Whether you are seeking a long-term role or a permanent position, this school offers the support, structure, and guidance to help you thrive.
This is more than a teaching role. It is an opportunity to support pupils who need consistency, understanding, and belief—giving you the time and space to build meaningful relationships and deliver learning that truly meets each child where they are.
About the School
This purpose-built setting supports pupils from Key Stage 1 through to Key Stage 4, all with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
Every aspect of the environment has been carefully designed to help pupils feel safe, regulated, and ready to engage. Alongside well-resourced classrooms, the school offers dedicated vocational and therapeutic spaces, ensuring a broad, balanced, and meaningful curriculum.
The focus here is on the whole child—supporting emotional wellbeing, personal growth, and long-term success beyond the classroom.
The Role
As a Primary SEMH Teacher, you will play a key role in shaping both the educational and emotional journeys of your pupils.
With small class sizes, you will have the opportunity to tailor your teaching, build trust, and create a safe, structured environment where pupils feel confident to engage, take risks, and succeed.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Planning and delivering creative, engaging, and highly personalised lessons
- Adapting your teaching to meet a wide range of needs and learning styles
- Creating a calm, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
- Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils
- Supporting emotional regulation, confidence, and engagement
- Working collaboratively with support staff and external professionals
- Monitoring progress and celebrating every step forward with pupils and families
About You
We are looking for a teacher who brings both skill and compassion to their practice.
You will ideally:
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Have strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Be able to work collaboratively within a supportive team
- Have a genuine passion for supporting pupils with SEMH needs
If you are coming from a mainstream background and are curious about transitioning into SEND, we would strongly encourage you to apply—your experience is incredibly valuable, and this could be a highly rewarding next step.
Why This Role?
- A supportive, nurturing specialist setting
- Small class sizes that allow for meaningful teaching
- A strong focus on wellbeing—for both pupils and staff
- Opportunities to develop your expertise within SEMH education
- The chance to make a visible, lasting difference every day
