Primary SEN ARP Teacher

- £140 – £165 PAYE per day, weekly payment
A lovely primary school in Brent, North-West London is seeking a compassionate and skilled ARP Teacher to lead its Autism Resource Provision (ARP), supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.
This is a long-term, full-time role, ideal for a qualified or unqualified teacher with a strong SEN background, especially in autism education. The ARP supports children with EHCPs who require a more specialist setting, while promoting inclusion and eventual reintegration into the mainstream classroom.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach and manage a small group of pupils within the Autism Resource Provision
- Plan and deliver differentiated lessons in line with individual Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
- Foster the development of communication, emotional regulation, and independence
- Collaborate closely with Teaching Assistants, the SENCO, therapists, and leadership
- Implement evidence-based strategies, such as TEACCH, PECS, Makaton, or SCERTS
- Monitor progress, set targets, and maintain detailed pupil records
- Provide a safe, calm, and structured learning environment that meets pupils' sensory and emotional needs
About the Provision
- A purpose-built Autism Resource Provision within a mainstream primary school
- Supports pupils from Reception to Year 6, with a primary focus on Years 1–4
- All pupils have formal autism diagnoses and EHCPs
- Many pupils are pre-verbal or use alternative communication methods
- Low pupil-to-adult ratio, supported by a team of experienced Teaching Assistants
The Ideal SEN Teacher

- Qualified Teachers with SEN experience
- Unqualified Teachers or HLTA-level professionals with strong autism/SEN backgrounds
- Experienced SEN Teaching Assistants seeking progression
You should demonstrate
- Experience working with children with autism and complex learning needs
- Strong behaviour management and a nurturing, structured teaching approach
- Knowledge of communication strategies (e.g., PECS, AAC, Makaton)
- Confidence in leading a class and managing support staff effectively
- A deep understanding of inclusive education and trauma-informed practice
- A proactive, reflective attitude with a commitment to continuous professional development
