About the role

Your first teaching role can shape the kind of teacher you become.

A specialist primary school in North West London is looking for an Early Career Teacher to join its team in September 2026.

This is an opportunity to begin your career in a setting where teaching is highly personalised, classes are small and relationships are central to helping pupils learn.

You will teach primary-aged pupils with complex additional needs, with structured support and mentoring throughout your ECT journey.

The setting

The approach is centred around understanding each child as an individual, adapting teaching to their needs and recognising that progress can look different for every pupil.

As an ECT, you will work alongside experienced specialist teachers and support staff while developing the skills and confidence needed to become an effective SEND practitioner.

You will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons

  • Teach small groups of primary-aged pupils

  • Assess progress and adapt teaching accordingly

  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils

  • Work closely with Teaching Assistants and support staff

  • Collaborate with therapy and wider school professionals

  • Contribute to collaborative planning and whole-school development

  • Develop your SEND teaching practice through mentoring and CPD

  • A genuine interest in primary education and SEND

  • A patient, nurturing and resilient approach

  • The ability to adapt teaching to individual needs

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills

  • A commitment to helping every pupil make meaningful progress

Previous specialist school experience is not required. Full support will be provided as you develop your practice.
