This Primary SEN Teacher job in Hertfordshire is based within an outstanding specialist primary school supporting pupils aged 4–11 with Autism, complex learning needs, communication differences, and SEMH needs. The school provides a nurturing, highly personalised environment where pupils are supported to feel safe, valued, and confident in learning.
With small class sizes and strong therapeutic support, this SEN school allows teachers to deliver creative and individualised learning tailored to each child’s EHCP outcomes. Progress is celebrated in meaningful ways, whether that is improved communication, emotional regulation, social interaction, or increased independence.
As a Primary SEN Teacher, you will lead either a KS1 or KS2 class supported by experienced LSAs and work closely with therapists, families, and multi-agency professionals to provide consistent, holistic support for every pupil.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver differentiated lessons across KS1 or KS2 within a specialist SEN setting
- Support pupils with Autism, complex needs, communication needs, and SEMH
- Plan and adapt learning to meet EHCP outcomes and individual learning styles
- Create a calm, structured, and nurturing classroom environment
- Support emotional regulation, confidence, and social development
- Work collaboratively with LSAs, therapists, and parents
- Use creative, practical, and therapeutic approaches to learning
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Experience teaching or supporting pupils with SEN, Autism, complex needs, or SEMH
- Strong understanding of differentiation and inclusive teaching practice
- Calm, adaptable, and reflective approach to teaching
- Passion for SEND and child-centred education
- Mainstream Primary Teachers looking to transition into SEN are encouraged to apply
