Primary SEN Teacher | Watford, Hertfordshire | £34,398 – £52,490 per annum + SEN Allowance | Permanent
Do you believe that every child deserves a teacher who truly understands them not just where they are academically, but who they are?
Can you create a classroom where a child who has always found school difficult finally feels safe, seen, and ready to learn? Are you the kind of teacher who measures progress not just in grades, but in moments a child speaking up for the first time, regulating an emotion they couldn't manage last term, or making a friend?
If that sounds like you, an outstanding specialist primary school in Watford wants to meet you.
The School
This is a school built around one simple belief that every child can make progress when the environment is right. Pupils aged 4 to 11 with Autism, complex learning needs, communication differences, and SEMH needs are supported in small classes with high staff-to-pupil ratios, strong therapeutic provision, and a culture that celebrates every step forward. Progress here looks different for every child, and that is exactly the point.
The Role
As their new Primary SEN Teacher, you'll lead either a KS1 or KS2 class supported by experienced LSAs, working closely with therapists, families, and multi-agency professionals to provide consistent, holistic support for every pupil. You'll plan and deliver creative, highly individualised lessons tailored to each child's EHCP outcomes, adapting your approach constantly to meet different learning styles, communication needs, and emotional needs. You'll support pupils to develop confidence, emotional regulation, and social skills alongside their academic progress using creative, practical, and therapeutic approaches to bring learning to life.
This is far more than a traditional teaching role. This is a chance to work in a school where your creativity, empathy, and expertise are not just welcomed they are essential.
Who This Is For
You might be an experienced SEN teacher looking for a school where the values genuinely match your own. Or you might be a mainstream primary teacher who has always felt drawn to SEN and is ready to make that move your classroom experience is hugely valued here and transitions like this are actively encouraged. Either way, you'll need to hold QTS or equivalent, have experience teaching or supporting pupils with SEN, Autism, complex needs, or SEMH, and bring a calm, reflective, and deeply child-centred approach to everything you do.
What You'll Get
A competitive salary of £34,398 to £52,490 per annum plus a SEN allowance, a permanent full-time contract starting September 2026, small class sizes with strong LSA support, excellent CPD and progression opportunities within SEND education, protected PPA time and dedicated wellbeing support, and the opportunity to make a lasting impact on pupils' lives every single day.
Why This Role Matters
For the children in this school, the right teacher is transformative. These are pupils who may have struggled in other settings, who need someone who will meet them where they are and believe in what they can become. If you're ready to teach in a way that truly matters, in a school that will support and value you every step of the way, we'd love to hear from you.
