A highly regarded specialist primary school in Watford, Hertfordshire is seeking a dedicated Primary SEN Teacher to join their team from Easter 2026. This is a rewarding opportunity to teach in a school where inclusion is embedded in everyday practice and every pupil’s progress is celebrated.

The school supports pupils aged 4–11 with autism, complex learning needs and social, emotional and mental health differences. Teaching here is creative, adaptive and relationship-driven, with learning carefully tailored to meet each pupil’s individual EHCP outcomes.

The successful teacher will lead a small class and work closely with experienced learning support assistants to create a calm, structured and nurturing classroom where pupils feel safe to learn, communicate and grow in confidence.

Key Responsibilities

Lead a small class of pupils with autism and complex learning needs

Plan and deliver engaging lessons across the primary curriculum

Adapt learning to meet pupils’ developmental stages and EHCP targets

Create a structured and supportive classroom environment that promotes engagement

Support pupils’ communication, independence and emotional development

Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists and the wider SEN team

Build strong relationships with pupils, families and external professionals

Requirements

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

Experience working with pupils with autism, complex needs and/or SEMH

Primary teaching experience with knowledge of the national curriculum

A flexible and creative teaching approach that adapts to individual needs

Strong communication and teamwork skills

A genuine commitment to inclusive education and personalised learning
