Primary SEN Teacher – ECT Opportunity
Location: North West London
Salary: £213.99–£259.83 per day PAYE, Inner London Payscale
Job Type: Full time, term time only
Start Date: September 2026
Setting: Specialist primary SEND school
About the role
Looking for your first teaching role where you can genuinely make a difference?
A specialist primary SEND school in North West London is looking for an enthusiastic Early Career Teacher to join its team in September 2026.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an ECT to begin their teaching career in a specialist environment where classes are small, teaching is highly personalised and building strong relationships with pupils is at the heart of everything the school does.
You will teach primary-aged pupils with complex additional needs, working alongside experienced teachers and dedicated support staff while receiving structured mentoring, specialist training and ongoing support throughout your ECT journey.
Why consider a career in specialist SEND education?
For the right teacher, SEND education can be an incredibly rewarding way to begin a teaching career.
Rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all approach, you will learn how to understand individual pupils, identify barriers to learning and adapt your teaching to help every child make meaningful progress.
The school provides a nurturing and supportive environment where you will have the opportunity to develop your confidence, classroom practice and specialist SEND knowledge alongside experienced practitioners.
Previous experience in a specialist school is not essential. What matters most is your enthusiasm for teaching, willingness to learn and genuine commitment to supporting children with additional needs.
You will:
-
Plan and deliver engaging and appropriately differentiated lessons
-
Teach small groups of primary-aged pupils with a range of SEND needs
-
Adapt teaching and learning to individual pupil needs
-
Monitor, assess and record pupil progress
-
Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
-
Work closely with Teaching Assistants and wider support teams
-
Collaborate with therapists and other professionals
-
Contribute to planning, assessment and whole-school development
-
Develop your specialist SEND teaching practice through mentoring and CPD
Who are we looking for?
This role would suit an ECT or Early Career Teacher who is passionate about primary education and keen to develop their career within SEND.
You will ideally have:
-
Qualified Teacher Status or be completing the requirements for QTS
-
A genuine interest in working with children with SEND
-
A patient, nurturing and resilient approach
-
The ability to adapt your teaching to meet individual needs
-
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
-
A reflective and positive attitude towards professional development
-
A commitment to helping every pupil achieve their potential
You do not need previous specialist school experience. The school is committed to supporting the successful candidate as they develop their practice.
